Vinyl the true story

This is a clip from the Oregonian featuring 360 Vinyl store owner and member of The Fix crew DJ KEZ.

This is just a part of the article but you can get the rest at: Oregonlive.com Search keyword DJ KEZ.

Ironically, record sales are softer in one area where they stayed strong throughout the years: Among DJs. For years, DJs kept record culture alive, spinning vinyl in clubs. "So many DJs over the past couple years have switched over to playing mp3s versus vinyl," said Aaron Marquez, the owner of 360 Vinyl in Portland. Marquez, who spins under the moniker DJ KEZ, remains a vinyl stalwart. His store now deals more in hip-hop, he said.
Because so many dance labels are small, independent outfits, they can't absorb price increases, such as the cost of gas, as well, said Marquez, squeezing them out of the vinyl market. "I've been involved in this business for 8 or 9 years," he said. "I've seen prices go up a lot."

Not one to name drop but.....

LEBRON JAMES AT THE FIX..... Yeah no big deal!!!!!!
Photobucket
Here is a little of the press for the Mick Boogie night, with are 2 other very special guest Lebron James and Cliff Robinson.

Photobucket

We heard a rumor that Lebron James was at the Fix (Someday Lounge’s hip-hop weekly) last Thursday night as Cleveland’s Mick Boogie and the regular PDX Fix crew had the party poppin’. Said source mentioned that He was occasionally bumped and/or grinded on, paying no mind to the constant girlie action. The men, apparently, were even more transfixed by His presence than the women. Anyway, now there’s photographic proof that He was there. Non-basketball people: This is a big deal. It’s like Thom Yorke showing up at the Matador.

thanks localcut.com for the love

New Artist You Should Look Out For: SHAWN JACKSON

Just some info on a new artist you should hear. I think it's right down the Fixtures' alley.

"What comprises a classic album? Lyrical content? A cohesive theme? Solo shine backed by polished beats? Overarching bravado? Yes and no. Then what? Context! A classic LP is always defined by the times. It fills the void in an otherwise murky, uninspired pool of emcees (yes, Lil Mama and Hurricane Chris, I’m talking about you). And west coast native Shawn Jackson’s debut installment, First of All …, does just that. It’s honest, soulful, and lyrically filling (peep tracks 1-13, then press repeat). Even the most cynical hip hop heads will have reason to believe again. If he’s anything like his Tres Records brethren Blu, then the game need not worry. Haters and emcees alike, take note, Shawn Jackson bout to show ya’ll how do this son."

MICK BOOGIE @ THE FIX®

yes yes. I cannot believe that I got two hugs from Spinderella. I am sure all of us have a memory now of being within the same couple of feet as a hiphop legend. Wow, I was so honored to go home and get a mac power cord for the one and only woman behind the Backspin. Anyways, it was great, but we have to keep it moving.

July 17 we have Mick Boogie on deck to wow the crowd.
Straight from the source ::

Mick Boogie has quickly become one of the America's most in-demand DJ talents, expanding his DJ brand to include A-list events in NYC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris and more.

Mick Boogie is known for his high-energy, eclectic DJ sets. Using hip hop and R&B as his foundation, he mixes in a diverse blend of rock, 80s classics, reggae, and 70s soul and disco, pleasing and energizing diverse crowds wherever he plays. As more and more celebrities come calling for his services, Mick can be found spinning at parties for celebrities such as Lebron James, Venus and Serena Williams, Jay-Z and more.

Additionally, his creative mixtapes with artists such as Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Nas, and Common are considered "classics" and are the talk of both the street and the "blogosphere."

So that's the edited version. You can check him out at mickboogie.com and at his myspace page. (http://www.myspace.com/mickboogie ... add that shit)
