Dám Funk @ The Fix
I am so proud to announce that we are having Dám Funk!
"Known as Los Angeles' "Ambassador of Boogie Funk," Dãm-Funk represents the citizens of the Funkmosphere. Headquartered in the Leimert Park section of L.A., Dãm spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-'80s styles of Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk." - Stones Throw website
When I am mashin out late on the 710 to glendale this is what's in the 8 track

remember...
Hey there guy!
You know when you have an insatiable hunger for any kind of sushi that includes salmon and a love for japanese wrestling you belong in belong in Tokyo!
Banksy vs. Bristol Museum! This is art! Art = what you make it. You make art?
Make sure to check out Slumfunk, the internet home of Portland's own Libretto. He is offering free mp3s and more. His site will help you with post Laker championship win riot code protocols, keeping up with the infamous Misfit Massive Crew, and a steady flow of hiphop banter. In my opinion, Libretto belongs to the elite group of top 5 emcees in Portland. After mixtapes like Kokanut Brown Visits the Donut Shop and albums like Ill-oet you can only expect ill shit. And when it is coming you will know because you will already be on his site waiting for it.
After you check that stuff out remember to mark your calendars for this Thursday. We are having Diamond D of DITC. Last reminder.
Hey if you are into A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, or any other 90s hiphop you are going to really enjoy this Thursday. Get off your bum and get movin for the best kept secret!
Sincerely,
THA DIGSTA

HUGE NEWS//MEGA APRIL
As you know when we do it, we do it mega large. So with that in mind we are putting together these shows for you! Well mainly Connie, but the heavy duty recon support is coming from your Fix boys. I think the flyers speak for themselves. Check it out.
And yes, these shows do all take place the same weekend! Wow we are all gonna be so busy. Yikes....
So the story with this one is that we were going to have Vitamin come down late last year. He had some stuff come up and he had to cancel and now he is back. He's done production for Source of Labor, Gift of Gab, Boom Bap Project, Darien Brockington, and Redman just to name a few.
Questlove is a real crowd pleaser so watch out you might hear something you like!
and to wrap up an amazing weekend!
That's weird? I couldn't find any video of Spinderella spinning. Maybe it's because everyone was having so much fun they didn't wanna waste precious minutes of dancing.
Last time, at her Fix appearance, shit was bananas/sweaty/sexy/awesome dance party.
Whatever adjective you wanna put on there that means good.
sincerely,
THA DIGSTA!

BACK TO THE REAL.
Man. I been diggin' in the crates since 99'.
And ever since then Stonesthrow has released fresh music
Mostly stemming from west coast roots.
Tres Records is another label that has kept it really real. Despite the massive amounts of djs switching to serato and other digital djing formats, Tres has continued to push Awesome hiphop in the new era. Tres and Stonesthrow make it easy to love hiphop, funk and beats in 2009.
Personally, I find myself not liking a lot of hiphop these days. And it's easy for me to pick up the new electro banger over the seemingly snoozing blunted out white rap 12" that was just put out. So hat's off to the west coast record labels.
Speaking of Tres, my homie Matt Nelkin just did a radio show that features all of his fav Tres releases! Check it out at KSPU It's the Jan 20th Show. Track list is on their website

POST ANNIVERSARY AWESOMENESS!
Hello,
Sara Moskovitz of the Apple Juice Crew and new member of the Local Cut online division of the Willamette Week posted her interview with Bobbito. Here's the link to that ::
WWEEK LOCAL CUT MANGO TANGO INTERVIEW
Also, in the wake of our 2 Year Anniversary Mango Tango gave us a quick rundown of what it was like to be in the NW. He wrote about a trip to Nike, his experience at The Fix and how lucky we are to have such a great scene here in Portland. He is totally on point (with his game) with his persectives.
Give it a quick read here ::
BOB's Bounce Mag Blog
I am glad our we can bring in guests with the support of the crowd that attends The Fix. It really wouldn't be possible if no one came out. We also try to maintain that we are charging the lowest amount to break even. So we aren't caked up or paying our rent with the dough. We just and I just love to make shows happen. So basically this is my way of saying thank you!
We hope you love and continue to support the dj's that live here and the ones that don't as well.
Stay warm and stay dry.
We are also trying to do something special on Christmas evening.
Dan aka DUNDIGGY
PS. The Fix gift pack makes a great XMAS stocking stuffer!
available at The Fix and at Hecklewood!
